S Texas New Years, Where?
I'd like to take off after Xmas. Take the Toy Hauler & motorcycle. A buddy suggested Port Aransas County Park.
McAllan would be warmer. Hill country has nice motorcycle riding but maybe too cold. San Antonio is nice.
Suggestions? Where have you been?

this is the info that I just posted. Looks like your water pump is in a different place.
I just winterized my WW SL2800. I don't think it took half bottle of the pink stuff. If you rig's like mine, you'll need a siphon tube with a fitting for the water pump and 1/2 in male end connector to bypass the hot water heater.
First drain the water and waste tanks, and the hot water heater. It takes a really big socket for water heater, wrench doesn't have clearance.
The water pump is under the sink, the feed line on the back side so you have to connect it by "feel". Connect the siphon and put the hose in a jug of the pink stuff. Then disconnect the the hot water tank lines and connect the hot & cold with the half inch connector. Then just turn on the pump, turn on each faucet, step on the stool switch and the showers until you see the pink stuff.
The book says something like using pressurized air to blow threw.

I've got two of those $40 chocks. I think they work OK. They have bolts to mount them in your floor. Since I don't want them permanently mounted, I just tie them down with three tiedowns (two from the back and one looped on the front). I can place them however I want, based on the number a size of bikes (I have a Moto Guzzi V11 EV and a Suzuki 1200 Bandit) and take the chocks out easily and no holes in the floor.
They are good enough to let the bike free stand until you tie it down (4 more tiedown straps per bike).
We have two of the Condor PS-1500 chocks and wouldn't use anything else. They are not cheap. They are also removable.
Sorry, I got the Link mixed up with the next message which talks about the Condor. Anyway this $40.00 one Chock from Harbor Freight sure looks like my Bike Pro which cost well over $100 but it does not appear removable like the Bike Pro. Maybe I'm just envious.

I use tow straps, just hook them on and pull the ratchet until it's level. No drilling, no extra stuff.
Pictures please? Where do you hook them.

no photos. I just use the tow strap hooks. You can hook on the latches on the outside, take a look at the interior side to hook the other end. I did it once, but don't remember. Experiment a little and you should find something. There is a little more "bounce" using tow straps.

WW went broke? well this week so did everything else. Look at the stock market.
On top of having a Weekend Warrior (covering some minor fixes with my own $), I have Countrywide Mortgage and AIG retirement.
And when I have it out, it's almost 50 cents a mile just for fuel costs.
So far it's not been that bad.....knock wood.

RE: New Toy Hauler - tying down a Gold Wing
I have a WW 5th Wheel SL2805. It has 9 tie downs.
1. I use a locking style chock I bought at Harbor Freight for $39/ea.
2. I use a rubber mat under each chock and strap them down with 3 straps, two hooked from the back and one looped around the front of the chock. The advantage with straps rather than hard mounting the chock: you can experiment and place the chocks wherever you need them in regard to the number of bikes & the room available.
3. I use a Canyon Dancer attached to the handlebars with two straps.
4. I have used either two straps on the back of the bike, or single strap looped around the rear tire.
5. Keep the bike in gear.
6. For extra insurance put out the kick stand (bike is upright but you if it lets go you have a 50% chance of it falling left).
7. I've carried up to two bikes at a time (1200 Suzuki Bandit and EV V11 Moto Guzzi California Tour Bike). I've had one failure when one of the handlebar straps failed on a bumpy road & the Guzzi was laying on the Suzuki. It ripped the Suzuki seat and some chaffed plastic. Careful with those ratchet straps, makes sure they don't slip.
8. You don't have to totally compress the suspension, just make sure the straps are taught and the ratchets secure.
9. I went to Indy and just took the Guzzi (1 bike). Was great bike to cruise around on. I was also able to park the bike in toy hauler every night and still use the living area (1 couch and 1 table). Feed 4 people inside.
maybe not the best but it has worked well for me. Those chocks will keep the bike up while you strap it down.

I had a great time. Something seeing the guys ride in such conditions. Rossi beating Agostini's record. The Dirt Track show was great despite the announcer and parking.
The crowd really knew their stuff. Nicky was toast of the town, could've been mayor. Cheered at the Speedway and Dirt Track. Danni Pedrosa was roundly booed. All the other riders were cheered. I was there are all 4 days.
We were able to walk the pits on Thursday. Saw all the riders up close when posing at the Start-Finish line. Nicky, Colon, and Rossi were clearly popular with the other riders, Danni stood by himself and seemed withdrawn. Even Ben Spies and Rossi were chatting....
Rossi was asked on stage: when Mike Schumacher visited America he road a Harley around the US. Would you like to do that? Rossie said: I've never rid-din da' Harley Davidson before (crowd goes nuts). I lika da sporta bike, something with da horsa power (crowd cheers wildly).
I walked all over the infield. Took most of my photos in T6. Went to cover on the front stretch when the rain fell. Ben was top 3-5 in all sessions (wet & dry). Those 250s are incredibly fast, and sounded more like motorcycles that the GP bikes. Those GP bikes really growled, none have smooth firing order that I could tell plus the traction control made them sputter even more.
Basically the race was red flagged when the wind blew down the Yamaha tent (with a few dozen bikes including a new carbon fiber VMAX, all the Rossi gear). Sorry the 250 race wasn't run. Nicky checked out, as usual, Rossi caught him. Ben got 6th, might have gotten 4th if the the race had run the distance.
Camp site was pretty cool Sat night, bonfire, Fire Dept, etc.
Took the Toy Hauler and the Moto Guzzi. Spent Weds night at the Fair Grounds. Rest to the weekend in Lot 1C, dry camping until I had to run te truck to supplement the battery. Left Monday, drove all the way back to Okla City by Monday night.

I've been to Indy many times. never camped there (stayed in hotels, slept in the car, camped at RV park east of town). But it's still dry camping like Barber. 1C is an "over 18" venue.
anyway, was just checking if anyone here was camping. Just to do a meet up of like minded folks. Already checked with my motorcycle groups.
Yeah, I have a bit of experience with Barber. I've camped there a couple of times, both in the pits and the spectator areas. From my F-1 (non-camping) experience, I think you'll find Indy to be a completely different deal.
The track is huge, and has obviously been there for quite a while (the MotoGP will be the 100th anniversary). While the track holds a lot of property in the area, most of the "facility" is in the infield. Outside of the track is fairly developed. The main "official" parking/camping area is a field across the street.
Picture something like Daytona without vehicles/camping in the infield. It's more like staying in a field near the track, rather than in the facility. Not bad (cool atmosphere), just different.
I'll be interested in hearing the in's and out's of camping there. I imagine there are some Indy/NASCAR folks on here with LOTS of experience, so hopefully they will chime in as well.
I think they will be letting bikes in the infield for the MotoGP race, so that will be new (for them) as well.

I would also be interested in a follow-up on the experience at Indy and how you utilized your motorcycle during the event.
I wanted to hit the inaugural Indy MotoGP, but not really able to get all the pieces together this go-around. Taking the toyhauler (and bike) was one option we were seriously considering.
We have a little experience with Indy (the inaugural Formula 1 race), but that was a fly/rent car/hotel sort of thing. So still a little unfamiliar with the camping experience there.
And it should have a little bit different twist being a bike event.
Maybe next year!
I took the RV and both bikes to Barber Superbike in April. Of course you are dry camping- no hook-ups nor power. The bike is great to cruise on around the track. Great through traffic. But you want to ride with everyone else. The whole town of Indy will have bike events. The Indy Mile Dirt Track. Even demo rides.

I'll be camping in lot 1C. Will bring one, maybe both bikes.
Also going to the Indy Mile Saturday night.
The track camping opens on Thursday morning. I was wondering where to camp Weds night, maybe ORP?
